Huawei Named Challenger in 2015 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Wired and Wireless LAN Access Infrastructure
[Beijing, China, October 12, 2015] Huawei today announced its placement in the Challengers quadrant of the 2015 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Wired and Wireless LAN Access Infrastructure report, in what Huawei believes is a clear testament to its market performance and the success of its wired and wireless convergence Agile Campus Network Solution.
Huawei was the only vendor listed in the Challengers quadrant of the report, which evaluated 14 global wired and wireless LAN-access infrastructure vendors by way of completeness of vision and ability to execute.
Commenting on the placement, Swift Liu, President of Switch and Enterprise Communications Product Line, Huawei, said: “We believe that the innovative concepts behind our Agile Network Solution and their ability to squarely address current market demands are why Huawei was recognized as a Challenger in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Wired and Wireless LAN Access Infrastructure. Our Agile Network offering has drastically transformed the management of and policy approach for both wired and wireless networks. Since its launch in 2013, the solution has been deployed by more than 600 customers globally.”
The company’s proprietary network quality awareness technology (Packet Conservation Algorithm for Internet) for example, allows for traditional unconnected IP networks to measure network quality. Huawei’s eSight centralized network management solution meanwhile, which is deployed on cloud platforms, supports both wired and wireless network access for users and guests, complete with authentication management and location analysis capabilities.
Of the enterprise requirements being faced by enterprises, Gartner’s report cited: (1) The quality of connectivity is paramount (that is, whether it is latency for voice applications or addressing the bursty communication requirements of IoT devices); (2) Security and network management are mandatory. New device usage scenarios that started with guest BYOD requests and have expanded to IoT sensors and controls have exposed weaknesses in both; (3) Access layer cloud management is emerging. Over the past year, vendors have been targeting this solution to organizations with a large number of geographically dispersed, remote or branch offices. This, combined with end users' desire for simplified and turnkey access layer solutions, has led to a 10% increase in cloud-managed access layer inquiries in the past 12 months.
Gartner has also ranked Huawei as No.3 market-share vendor based on total Ethernet Switch revenue for 2015 Q2. “” , in which Huawei was the only China-based provider to be listed among the leading three providers for the second quarter of 2015, also outlines the Chinese technology company’s emergence as a top vendor.
Over the past year, Huawei’s Agile Network Solution has been deployed by over 600 global customers in the areas of finance, energy, healthcare, transportation and government. Key customers include Tsinghua University, People’s Bank of China, China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec Group), Beijing National Stadium (also known as the Bird’s Nest), and China Central Television.
